Southeastern Railway Museum

Duluth, Ga

GA’s largest collection of real, life size trains, cars and buses.

If you have little ones that love trains and cars this is a great place to take them! Our 3 year old had a blast. It is rich in history also.

The museum was founded in 1970, and it showcases over 90 pieces of rolling stock. It sits on a 30-acre site.

Sell’s Mill Park

Jackson County, Ga

Water mill from the early 1900s.

This is a nice little park, and it is a little park indeed. The playground is not much to boast about but overall this is a great spot for the hot summer days!

We went on a Thursday afternoon. It was not crowded at all. The weather was around 75 and humid. There was a water sprout for the kids to play in to keep cool.

If you venture down near the mill there is a stream to play in as well, or have picnics and just listen to the sound of water. I saw some people trying to fish upstream.

This was a fun climbing experience with the bare rocks. I imagine once the water starts flowing it’ll look really pretty cascading down the stream.

There’s a pavilion for shade and eating, and it overlooks the stream.

Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. We will come back during the summer to play in the water. If you’re in the area you should definitely check it out.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Athens, Ga

Today was one of those days where I just wanted to either be in bed or lie on the couch and be a couch potato, but I’m SO glad we decided to go on a little adventure. This was our first time to this botanical garden, and it was beautiful! The flowers aren’t bloomed yet but I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be come spring time.

When you first enter there’s an awesome play area for the kids and adults alike.

I couldn’t believe it was free to enter! Donations are highly recommended to keep this gem running.

There is a cafe but we did not go inside so I can’t speak on it. We spent all day enjoying the warm weather outdoor.

Behind me there are flower beds and herbs. It will be so beautiful to see everything in bloom.

It doesn’t look like much now but when everything blooms it will be magical. They also do holiday lights but we missed that. Bummer!
